HOW CAN I HELP?

We are so thankful to have friends who love to help others.

One of the best ways to begin helping at Calvary Rescue Mission is to schedule a time for your small group to come to the mission and help serve dinner to the homeless.

You can also attend our nightly chapel service.

Evening schedule at Calvary
  4:00 PM     Men check in
5:00 PM     Visitors & staff eat supper
6:00 PM     Supper is served to the men
  6:30 PM     Clean up time
  7:00 PM     Chapel services begin
  8:00 PM     Chapel services end
10:00 PM     Lights Out

There may also be opportunities to prepare meals, bring snacks for after chapel, participate in chapel services (by singing, testifying, or doing a devotional), or even conducting the chapel service. Since we have been particularly blessed in this area, opportunities are limited. It is likely that you will discover other opportunities to help as you visit the mission. Please contact us to schedule your visit.

In addition to visits at night, you may want to schedule your youth or other group to do a "clean up / fix up" day at the mission. These visits are normally 10am to 2pm Saturdays during the school year and weekdays during the summer. You may also want to watch the newsletter, website, and facebook for the "needs list". Last, feel free to be creative. Perhaps you have an idea for a way to help that we have not considered.

Thank you for helping Calvary Rescue Mission as we minister to "The least of these".

Memorial/Honor Giving

A Lasting Testimony To Your Loved Ones

Gifts to CALVARY Rescue Mission are tax deductible.

Charitable gifts are an excellent way to preserve the spirit of cherished family members and loved ones. Gifts of this nature not only contribute to the overall ministry of CALVARY Rescue Mission, but also create a lasting testimony to the remembered or honored individual.

Memorial or Honor Gifts are made at many different times throughout the year. Honoring or remembering a special loved one on his or her birthday, anniversary or other worthy event is a special way to let that person know how much you care. Mother's Day and Father's Day are also significant dates when gifts add a special testimony to the individual.

A gift to CALVARY Rescue Mission is a personal choice, and its significance lives on as a lasting tribute.

*Memorial or Honor Gifts, unless specifically designated, will support the annual operations of CALVARY Rescue Mission.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving

Planned Giving Making a planned gift to CALVARY Rescue Mission is a special way to receive a double blessing. It allows a donor to take an action now which will provide substantial financial support for CALVARY Rescue Mission's future ministry to the homeless and hurting of our community ... and which, in many cases, can simultaneously provide lifetime benefits for themselves or their loved ones.

There are a wide variety of planned giving opportunities which donors may utilize to meet their charitable giving and estate planning needs. Charitable planned gifts can be an important part of any financial or estate plan, and should be made in consultation with a qualified financial planner or estate planning attorney.

Here is a partial list of the types of planned gifts that are available.

• Gift Annuities
Donors may invest in a CALVARY Rescue Mission gift annuity which, depending on their ages, will pay them an annual return of a fixed percentage of the gift, guaranteed for life, and much of the income is tax-free!

• Beneficiary of Will
Designating CALVARY Rescue Mission as a beneficiary in your will is the simplest form of a planned gift. It is also a very effective way to provide for future support of CALVARY Rescue Mission. Should you decide to make this type of gift, the correct beneficiary name is CALVARY Rescue Mission.

• Endowment
An endowment fund provides for a principal amount, which remains intact while the interest or dividends support the work of CALVARY Rescue Mission "forever".

• Life Insurance Gifts
Naming CALVARY Rescue Mission as beneficiary of a life insurance policy, or buying a policy for CALVARY Rescue Mission, is a way to become a major donor at a minimum cost. The premiums are tax-deductible.

• Stock Gifts
The gift of appreciated stock is an excellent opportunity to convert an asset into a charitable gift. No capital gains taxes are incurred on the transfer of appreciated stocks, and the gift may be used not only as an outright gift, but also for a gift annuity, participation in the pooled income fund, an endowment or virtually any other form of planned gift.

• Payable On Death (POD) Accounts
The gift that you give and still keep is made possible by designating CALVARY Rescue Mission to receive the balance of your savings, brokerage or other account at the time of death. You retain the right to use all of the funds in the account throughout your lifetime. This designation is fully revocable during your lifetime and is a "no-risk" gift for those who are concerned about unforeseen expenses, but would still like to make a gift.

• Charitable Trusts
Donors can place assets into a trust account, which will generate income for them or any beneficiary they designate. These accounts can produce fixed or variable income and may be revocable or permanent depending on donors' wishes. Upon the death of the trust maker and subsequent beneficiary, the money will then benefit the work of CALVARY Rescue Mission.

• Retirement Account Gifts
If you are planning to give to CALVARY Rescue Mission through your will or estate, one of the best assets to give is one that is least valuable to your heirs. Naming CALVARY Rescue Mission as the beneficiary of your pension or individual retirement account (IRA) money can eliminate income and estate taxes on that gift.

Toiletries - Welcome Pack

Gifts of Toiletries for a Welcome Pack

How easy it is to take a bar of soap or a toothbrush for granted. But many of the people who come to CALVARY Rescue Mission don't have these and other essentials for daily living.

That's why we provide toiletries--in addition to a clean bed and nutritious meal. It goes a long way toward showing how much we care. After all, we know it's the little things that make any of us feel welcome and at home. Think how much more that can mean to someone who is homeless.

We always have a need for personal care items to give to those we serve. That is why we ask your help in assembling what we call Welcome Packs.

Welcome Packs Each Welcome Pack is a sealable clear bag containing the following items:

• Soap
• Toothbrush and holder
• Toothpaste
• Men's deodorant
• Shampoo
• Men's shaver and shaving cream
• Hand lotion

You or your family, co-workers, church or club can make one or more Welcome Packs or your group can collect certain items on this list and we will assemble the packs.

For that personal touch, print Welcome Pack labels, Enter your name or the name of your group on one of the labels and place it in the Welcome Pack. The man who receives the Welcome Pack will know who cared.

Welcome Packs can be brought down to the CALVARY Rescue Mission located at 960 South 3rd Stret any Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Thank you for helping us say welcome!
